Review: Outsider Tart, Chiswick, London

Outsider Tart review Chiswick London

Isn't Chiswick just brilliant? Great new joints opening up all the time, lovely homes, exciting auction houses - makes me happy. Today we discovered Outsider Tart, just my kind of café. Sumptuous portions of tasty food, relaxed setting, and wait for it...a Barkery!! Anyone that loves my dog, I love. And any place that does pies and cakes and brownies that look good enough to gobble in one giant gobble, I love even more.

Let's just get the sad bit over with first, before we talk about brunch and barkery. I'm on a health kick, and therefore I had to be content with admiring them good-looking bakes from afar.

Now to the fun stuff. Our dog was greeted with treats at the door and then more treats when the waitress came around and then a few more when another waitress passed our table. Can ya cope, Hazel?!

Yes, canine happiness knew no bounds. And if that wasn't enough, there was a little help-yourself-to-more doggy treats table right behind us. Make it stop, make it stop.

The menu was packed with gorgeous things like a stack of fluffy blueberry pancakes, warm filled brioche buns, french toasts, savoury pancakes piled with chilli and fried eggs, hefty pulled pork sandwiches, chilli dogs and lots of other American breakfast/brunch/lunch delights. I had the Breakfast Burrito - a large tortilla wrap, filled with scrambled eggs, vegetarian chilli and black beans. High protein, low carbs, perfect. My husband had the One-eyed Monster - pancakes doused in beef chilli and topped with fried eggs. Safe to say, we really enjoyed our meals.

Definitely going back in 3 months, when I can eat that brownie that I can't stop thinking about. And those pancakes baked with blueberries in them. Did I say I really like the quirky name too? Two outsiders from New York, showing London what an American bake shop is all about.
